SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT – REGULATORY REPORTING – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR308
About this opportunity
Our client offers specialty property, casualty, and life reinsurance products through reinsurance intermediaries on a global scale. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing Bermuda regulatory filings for multiple entities and ensuring compliance with other regulatory requirements. The individual will manage financial reporting requirements for affiliated reinsurance including preparation of financial statements and monitoring capital requirements. This position requires a professional accounting qualification and a thorough knowledge of Bermuda Regulatory reporting requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Preparation of annual BSCR filings and quarterly regulatory filings for multiple Bermuda regulated entities, including Insurance Group filings
- Compiling data for trial runs and surveys as required/requested by the BMA
- Assisting with regulatory reporting in other jurisdictions as required
- Ensuring compliance with risk management, internal control and audit requirements
- Review of consultation papers and discussion papers relating to changes to regulatory reporting requirements in Bermuda and internationally
- Managing financial reporting requirements for a Class 3A affiliated reinsurer and other affiliated reinsurance
- Preparation of annual US GAAP and Statutory financial statements and quarterly management accounts
- Forecasting capital requirements and working with Group Treasury, Capital and Risk Management teams to determine efficient use of capital
- Responsible for establishing controls and processes to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of regulatory reporting submissions
- Assisting with other finance team related initiatives as required
What you’ll need
- A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CA, CPA, ACA) is required
- A minimum of 4 years of post-qualification relevant experience within the reinsurance industry
- Proficiency in US GAAP for insurance and reinsurance reporting
- Knowledge of Bermuda regulatory reporting and statutory requirements (preferably for Class 4 reinsurance companies and Insurance Groups)
- Very strong analytical, documentation, organizational, presentation, planning and project management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure that tasks allocated to peers are completed in accordance with deadlines
- Strong communication skills and experience communicating with executive leadership and external stakeholders
- Strong computer skills, in particular, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Experience working with Workiva Wdesk and/or Workday is desirable
- Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and public holidays as required
