VALUATION ASSOCIATE ACTUARY – LIFE – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR109

About this opportunity

Our client provides annuity and life insurance companies with tailored risk management solutions, with a specialization in closed block and new business flow reinsurance of asset-intensive and interest rate-sensitive annuity and life insurance liabilities.

They are looking to fill the position of Associate Actuary. This role will be an integral part of the team, with responsibility for assisting with reserving, and modeling of products. This position will report to the Chief Actuary.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and execution of financial reporting models and reports, as well as supporting reconciliation of results
  • Contribute to regulatory filings and assist in creating management, finance, and risk reports
  • Support the development and enhancement of actuarial models for existing and new treaties
  • Participate in experience studies and contribute to the development and refinement of actuarial assumptions
  • Monitor and evaluate assumptions to ensure they align with current and emerging experience trends
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline valuation processes, enhance efficiency and strengthen model governance practices
  • Prioritize and complete ad hoc and special projects assigned on a timely basis
  • Collaborate effectively with pricing and risk management teams to ensure alignment across actuarial functions
  • Participate in the actuarial student program with goal of achieving Fellowship

What you’ll need

  • ASA or equivalent
  • A bachelor's degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science, or other numerate discipline is required
  • At least 3 years of similar actuarial experience
  • Experience with US GAAP, US Stat or Bermuda EBS or other equivalent jurisdictions (including Solvency II or Canadian standards) strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with actuarial modeling software is required, Moody's Axis is strongly preferred
  • Experience with data management in R, Python, or related languages is a plus
  • Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and business writing skills
