START UP – LIFE RE/INSURANCE – BERMUDA – ONLY 10% TAX

About this opportunity

Our client, a Bermuda start-up in the Life space, seeks applications from suitably qualified accountant to cover the following responsibilities:

  • Financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP for the reinsurance business, and reporting to Group level
  • Assisting in the implementation of all aspects of the financial reporting function, including implementation of processes, tools, and systems to assess, measure, manage, monitor, and report on results
  • Working closely with the Group Finance team to ensure quarterly submissions are completed on a timely basis
  • Working closely with Internal Audit to ensure financial reporting SOX controls are designed and implemented appropriately
  • Assisting in transaction execution for new acquisitions/business, and the coordinating workstreams with legal, tax, treasury, and M&A teams
  • Assisting with the preparation and filing of statutory reports on a timely basis
  • Liaising with various stakeholder groups, both externally (auditors, administrators) and internally
  • Preparing ad-hoc analyses and presentations for senior management group, as required

What you'll need

  • Professional accounting qualification (i.e., CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA) with post-qualification experience in accounting/finance
  • Experience with financial reporting or auditing (re)insurance companies under US GAAP or IFRS
  • Experience with Dynamics, Workiva, and working in a Life reinsurance start-up environment strongly preferred
  • Results driven, highly analytical and great attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

At times, the successful candidate may be expected to work outside normal working hours including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays to meet business needs.
