Our client, a leading management company based in Bermuda, is seeking to hire a recently-qualified accountant. In this role, you will lead all aspects of reporting for a portfolio of your employer's financial services clients, known as 'captive' insurance companies.

You'll work in a supportive environment, often with the help of a mentor, and encouraged to stretch your professional skills. Your new employer will provide on-the-job training and external training so you're welcome to apply if you're new to the Insurance sector.

From your first day, you'll be treated as part of the team, and expected to display a dynamic, enthusiastic approach.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Production of quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Analysis of financial results (for example, reviewing by shareholder, insurance policy, type of business and/or underwriting year)
  • Working alongside management, you will drive continual review and improvement of finance processes, internal controls and wider controls
  • Co-ordinate the annual audit in cooperation with external auditors
  • Preparation and filing of statutory financial returns to the Bermuda Monetary Authority
  • You'll actively participate in company meetings and be responsible for cash management and day-to-day administration of client companies
  • You'll look after the investment management program and, with the assistance of legal counsel, ensure all your clients' agreements and Re/Insurance policies are in place
  • You'll also monitor collateral requirements and administer letters of credit

What you'll need

  • A professional accountancy designation (ACA, CA, CPA or ACCA) with 0-5 years' post-qualification experience
  • Experience preparing financial statements and collaborating with clients and external auditors
  • External audit experience working on clients in the offshore Insurance sector a definite asset but not a requirement
  • A first-rate professional work ethic with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are highly valued
  • You may need to work overtime on occasion

Note that prior experience in insurance is a plus but not a requirement for this position.
