SENIOR TRUST MANAGER – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR901

About this opportunity

Our client, a licensed trust business regulated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority and affiliated with a leading Bermuda-based law firm, is seeking a highly motivated, proactive professional to join their team as a Senior Trust Officer. Reporting to the Trust Director, the Senior Trust Officer will be responsible for the supervision of Trust Administrators and oversight of a portfolio of both local and international trust structures.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing and covering for the Trust Administrators as required in order to facilitate trust requirements and meet transaction deadlines
  • Acting as lead client relationship manager in the administration of allocated portfolio of trusts and oversight of underlying companies
  • Maintaining statutory records of the trusts and companies to ensure that the Company meets all its legal obligations including any annual filings with the relevant authorities
  • Preparing documents relating to transactions e.g. minutes, resolutions, annual returns etc.
  • Attending board, shareholder and committee meetings as required
  • Arranging and preparing necessary documentation for shareholder, board of director, or committee meetings and follow-up matters to maintain good corporate governance
  • Liaising with clients and with clients’ in-house and/or external legal counsel to ensure actions taken by trustees are properly documented (as required)
  • Assisting with and contributing to trust and corporate restructuring
  • Coordinating and assisting with preparation of documentation for new trust business
  • Maintaining trust and company records database and files (as applicable)
  • Reviewing and overseeing preparation of banking and brokerage account opening documents
  • Assisting in the development of policies and procedures as required
  • Ensuring all compliance requirements both internally and externally are maintained in accordance with Company policy and all applicable laws and regulations

It is essential that the Senior Trust Manager is able to:

  • Review and produce a visual representation of a trust/corporate structure
  • Ensure that all aspects of a structure are fully compliant with all aspects of the Company’s compliance policies and procedures including but not limited to client onboarding and CRS/FATCA reviews in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Support the trust team in maintaining compliance through accurate documentation and process execution
  • Ensure all aspects of the business and the day-to-day operations thereof are compliant with industry best practice
  • Prepare an analysis of the reviewed structures with regard to points above
  • Understand and interpret financial statements
  • Understand general taxation principles from on-shore jurisdictions as they apply to offshore trusts and related structures
  • Exercise impeccable professional decorum with clients and co-workers either in person or by telephone
  • Monitor own workload to ensure deadlines are met and highlighting potential delays or problem areas to Trust Director
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of ViewPoint, how to use it efficiently and the ability to train others in its use
  • At all times maintain discretion and confidentiality in all matters
  • Be team player

What you’ll need

  • A minimum of ten years’ relevant experience in trust and company administration
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferably with a business or other relevant related major
  • TEP qualified and/or professional designation in the field of Trusts or equivalent experience
  • Operational knowledge of Trustees Act, Corporate Service Provider Business Act, risk management and corporate governance and compliance frameworks
  • Ability to relate to and communicate with clients on both social and business levels
  • Solid understanding and application of Trust industry best practice, and principles
  • Highly developed knowledge and working experience with Viewpoint, Bermuda Monetary Authority’s online filing systems and trustee and corporate secretarial software
  • Excellent written, oral communication and numerical skills
  • Confidence and maturity to communicate with demanding international clients on complex matters and structures
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office and database software
  • A willingness to contribute ideas and assistance to co-workers in an evolving team structure
  • Must be highly motivated and willing to learn, with a flexible attitude towards adopting additional responsibilities
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage a heavy workload with minimum supervision and to operate in a demanding environment where some evening and weekend work may be required to meet deadlines
